Acceptance of Terms
By using ChoreAlert ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Who May Use It
You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. Accounts are for adults running a household; the other people in your household take part as members, without accounts of their own. ChoreAlert is currently in early access and registration is by invitation.
Your Responsibilities
You're responsible for activity under your account and for using the Service lawfully. Keep your password to yourself, and don't use the Service in a way that infringes on others' rights or disrupts it for other users.
Household Content
You're responsible for the chore names, notes, member names, and other content you add to your household. Don't add content that's illegal, offensive, or infringes on someone else's rights.
Other People's Information
When you add someone to your household, you're giving us information about another person. You confirm you have the authority to do so — as their parent or guardian, or with their permission. The Service asks for a name and nothing else, and a first name or nickname is enough. You can view, correct or delete anything about a member at any time, and it's your job to handle requests from the people in your household about their own information.
Abuse
Using the Service to harass, threaten, or otherwise harm anyone is prohibited. We may suspend or terminate accounts that engage in abusive behavior.
How We Contact You
By email, to account holders, about their own account — confirming an address, sign-in codes, password resets, invitations and account deletion. We don't collect phone numbers and we never send text messages or make calls. We don't contact household members at all; the only notifications anyone receives are ones they turned on for a paired device.
Device Pairing
Household organizers are responsible for pairing devices to household members. You may only pair: a device you own; a device belonging to a minor that you own and are financially responsible for (for example, you pay for the phone or its service plan); or a device belonging to an adult you cohabitate with, who has given you permission to pair it. You're responsible for complying with all applicable local laws regarding monitoring, recording, or managing another person's device. If you send someone a pairing link, you send it yourself, from your own device — ChoreAlert doesn't send it for you. A shared household board displays only today's chores and is subject to the same rules. Device pairings are revocable at any time from My Account or the Household page.
Chore Payments Are Yours, Not Ours
ChoreAlert lets you attach an amount to a chore and record what you've paid a member. This is a record-keeping tool and nothing more. ChoreAlert does not move, hold, transfer, or process money. We are not a bank, a payment processor, a money transmitter, or a party to any arrangement between you and a member of your household. Any actual payment happens entirely outside the Service, between you and them. Whether allowance is owed, how much, and whether it was really paid is between the people in your household — we only store what you tell us, and we're not responsible for the accuracy of those records or for any disagreement about them. Do not enter card numbers, bank account numbers, or banking credentials anywhere in the Service.
Early Access
ChoreAlert is early-access software under active development. Features may change or be removed, the Service may be unavailable at times, and while we take care with your data and keep backups of our systems, you should not treat ChoreAlert as the only record of anything that matters to you — including payment records. If you need a durable copy of a member's earnings history, export it from the Service.
Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from My Account. If you're the only organizer in your household, this permanently deletes the entire household — every member, all chore history, and all earnings and payment records, for everyone in it. This cannot be undone and we cannot restore it afterwards. The Service shows you exactly what will be removed and asks you to confirm before anything is deleted.
Fees
ChoreAlert is currently free to use. We intend to introduce a paid plan in the future to keep the Service running sustainably — the goal is to cover costs and keep this simple and privacy-respecting, not ad- or data-funded, not to maximize profit. If we introduce pricing, existing users will get advance notice before any charge applies to their account.
Termination
ChoreAlert is currently free, early-access software — we don't collect payment from you and aren't bound by a paid service relationship. Because of that, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. We'll revisit this section if we introduce a paid plan in the future.
No Warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that reminders and notifications will always arrive — delivery depends on your device, your browser, your network, and services we don't control.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChoreAlert is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including lost data, a missed reminder, or any dispute about chores or allowance within your household. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the update.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ChoreAlert operates.
