Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
   By using ChoreAlert ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Your Responsibilities
   You're responsible for activity under your account and for using the Service lawfully. Don't use it in a way that infringes on others' rights or disrupts the Service for other users.
3. Household Content
   You're responsible for the chore names, notes, and other content you add to your household. Don't add content that's illegal, offensive, or infringes on someone else's rights.
4. Abuse
   Using the Service to harass, threaten, or otherwise harm anyone is prohibited. We may suspend or terminate accounts that engage in abusive behavior.
5. Phone Numbers
   By adding a phone number to a household member, you confirm you own that phone number or have permission from its owner to use it for chore reminders and app-pairing invites. You're responsible for complying with all applicable laws regarding this use, and agree to hold ChoreAlert harmless for any claim arising from your failure to do so.
6. Device Pairing
   Household managers are responsible for pairing devices to household members. You may only pair: a device you own; a device belonging to a minor that you own and are financially responsible for (for example, you pay for the phone or its service plan); or a device belonging to an adult you cohabitate with, who has given you permission to pair it. You're responsible for complying with all applicable local laws regarding monitoring, recording, or managing another person's device. Device pairings are revocable at any time from My Account or the Household page.
7. Fees
   ChoreAlert is currently free to use. We intend to introduce a paid plan in the future to keep the Service running sustainably — the goal is to cover costs and keep this simple and privacy-respecting, not ad- or data-funded, not to maximize profit. If we introduce pricing, existing users will get advance notice before any charge applies to their account.
8. Termination
   ChoreAlert is currently free, early-access software — we don't collect payment from you and aren't bound by a paid service relationship. Because of that, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. We'll revisit this section if we introduce a paid plan in the future.
9. Changes to These Terms
   We may update these Terms from time to time. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the update.
10. Governing Law
    These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ChoreAlert operates.
